Decisions for Bellingham Port Leadership:   

An election forum for the Port Commissioner candidates, District 1 and District 2.


The mission of the Port of Bellingham is to fulfill the essential transportation and economic development needs of the region.  The Port operates two large marinas, the Bellingham International Airport and facilities in Bellingham and Blaine.  The Port is also the lead agency overseeing the waterfront property formerly owned by Georgia Pacific. The Port has an operating budget of more than $22 million for 2017.

The port is governed by a three-member commission whose non-partisan members are elected on a rotating basis for a four-year term. The district maps may be found on the Whatcom County Auditor website.

*Candidate Nicholas Kunkel has not responded to our invitations. Candidate Douglas Karlberg is working in Alaska and has said he will not be able to attend.
